CABLE AMPACITY READER

This product will be an IR/Laser sensing device that will be able to determine the diameter and temperature of a given wire without making contact with the conductor. This information will then be sent to our Arduino Uno microcontroller which will reference a database coded in the software that will relate the diameter and temperature of the jacket of the conductor to a known wire type with a known outer diameter. This will be used heavily in the design of power systems especially in the renovation of older systems. The intended audience for this product is electricians and electrical contractors who will be working directly with a potentially energized electrical system. By implementing this design, we are hoping to help create a safer work environment and minimize health risks in the work place.
